Practical Movement-Based Care: Graston and DNS with Dr Dominic
Carter Chiropractic is pleased to welcome Dr Dominic back to Dubbo, bringing a strong focus on hands-on care and movement-based techniques to support patients in getting back to the activities they enjoy.
Having previously worked alongside Dr Adam for three years, Dr Dominic says he is looking forward to coming home and supporting the community in staying active, whether that’s at work, in sport, or in everyday life.
At the heart of Dr Dominic’s care is a simple goal: helping people move better and return to their usual activities with more ease.
One of the key techniques he brings to the clinic is the Graston Technique. This is a hands-on approach that uses specialised tools to work on muscles and soft tissues. It is often used when people are feeling tight, stiff, or restricted, particularly in areas that don’t seem to improve with stretching alone.
Patients may notice a focused, targeted treatment that works through areas of tension and helps the body move more freely. It is commonly used alongside chiropractic adjustments and simple movement advice, forming part of a practical, well-rounded approach to care.
Dr Dominic also incorporates Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS), a movement-based approach that focuses on how the body naturally stabilises and moves. Rather than just treating where something hurts, DNS looks at how the whole body is working together.
By improving stability, posture and coordination, DNS helps retrain everyday movement patterns. This can be especially helpful for people returning to physical work, sport, or even day-to-day activities like sitting, lifting or walking, with better control and less strain.
Rather than relying on one technique alone, Dr Dominic takes a personalised approach to care. “Everyone moves differently, lives differently, and has different goals,” he explains. “My job is to understand that and tailor care accordingly.” By combining hands-on techniques like Graston with movement-focused approaches such as DNS, he supports each patient in a way that fits their lifestyle. You may have seen techniques like these used in sport or rehabilitation settings, but they can also be adapted to support everyday patients with different movement needs.
Dr Dominic works with a wide range of patients, including athletes, tradies, families, office workers and older adults. This allows him to understand the different physical demands people face, from repetitive work and long hours sitting, to staying active as they age.
In a regional community like Dubbo, “you’re not just treating a condition, you’re able to build long-term connections and a genuine understanding of your patients and their day-to-day lives,” he says.
Dr Dominic brings additional hands-on and movement-based techniques to the clinic, complementing Carter Chiropractic’s long-standing approach to practical, personalised care in Dubbo.
